About

I am a current Ph.D. student at the University of Connecticut, studying under Dr. Rachel M. Theodore in the Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences department.

My research is broadly concerned with perceptual learning in both speech and print. My goal is to employ machine learning techniques, specifically deep learning, to identify what possible invariances are capitalized on for perceptual learning to occur.

My hope is that when we identify what allows people to generalize so quickly and accurately to sudden changes in their linguistic environment, we will then be able to employ that in a computational environment that will help in reducing the stores of information and training needed for current voice recognition software to generalize effectively.
